OSWALD ACHENBACH (German / 1827-1905)

Oswald Achenbach, known for landscapes and genre scenes, was the brother of Andreas Achenbach. Oswald Achenbach was born in Düsseldorf. At the age of 12 he enrolled at the Düsseldorf Academy (at which he was later to become a professor), and two years later he entered his brother's studio. Like Andreas, Oswald Achenbach was an indefatigable traveller. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1860.
