AMAURY-DUVAL (French / 1808-1885)

Amaury-Duval was the artistic pseudonym of Eugène Emmanuel Pineux-Duval. He was born and died in Paris. Amaury-Duval was a pupil of Ingres. He concentrated on portraits, and also decorated a number of Parisian churches, including Saint-Merrie, Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, and Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Only one original etching is known by Amaury-Duval, Berger grec, 1834.
