GUSTAVE ASSIRE (French / 1870-1941)

Born in Angers, Gustave Edmond Assire was the archetypal Montmartre artist, known for his depictions of bars, nightclubs, circuses and low life. Gustave Assire was a pupil of Gustave Moreau, J.-P. Laurens, Benjamin-Constant and Cormon at the Beaux-Arts. Assire exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon Automne.
