CLAUDE FLIGHT –
Bringing in the Yule Log, 1936
Linocut
Sheet size: 250x180 mm
Image size: 155x90 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Unsigned
Original three-colour linocut by Claude Flight and Edith Lawrence, one of 45 joint productions for the book Christmas and other Feasts and Festivals, published by Routledge in 1936. The linocuts were "Printed from Linoleum Blocks cut by Claude Flight and Edith Lawrence" by Headley Brothers. The paper chosen was a standard bookwove with a smooth surface on which shows off the linocuts well; this paper has developed occasional mild foxmarks in the margins, not affecting the linocuts themselves. The linocuts were printed back to back, so there is a second linocut by Flight and Lawrence on the verso. There is no show-through. Condition: Very good, see description.
