Original etching by Philip Gilbert Hamerton, signed in the plate. Printed on thin China paper, mounted on a heavy Japan backing sheet. Hamerton took a canoeing trip down the river Arroux in 1870, during the course of which he made plein-air etchings on 60 pre-prepared etching plates, from which he selected 37 to illustrate his 1871 work The Unknown River. Condition: Very good.
