CHARLES ADAMS PLATT – Canal Boats on the Thames, 1883
Sheet size: 350x450 mm
Image size: 155x275 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Signed in plate
Original etching by Charles Adams Platt, signed and dated in the plate. The setting of this very Whistler-esque etching is Woolwich. This large etching was executed for Original Etchings by American Artists by Sylvester Rosa Koehler, published by Cassell and Company in 1883. Printed in brown on heavy wove paper; no details are given as to the printer. No print-run is given, but it must have been small, as both the original work and the individual plates are very scarce. This was Charles Adams Platt's 44th etching, and the number 44 is etched in the top left corner. Condition: Very good.
