Original etching, signed in pencil lower left and justified 77/150. Printed by Atelier Georges Leblanc on BFK Rives, and published by Associated American Artists. One of a series of seven etchings inspired by poems by Carl Sandburg. Each etching is on a folded sheet (complete sheet 245 x 360) with the title of the poem on p.1, the poem on p.2 (printed by Pierre Jean Mathan in Times to Gregory Masurovsky's typographic design), the etching on p.3 and p.4 blank. With a tissue paper guard between the poem and the etching. Could be framed either as a spread with both poem and etching, or as the image alone, with the facing page folded back. There were 190 copies altogether: 20 on Auvergne with a suite in Japon nacré, 10 artist's proofs, 10 collaborators' copies on Arches, and 150 on BFK Rives numbered 1-150, of which this is no. 77/150. Sold with a copy of the justification page additionally signed by the artist in ink. Condition: Mint.
