Original etching by Serge Ivanoff, printed by E. Dollé on vélin de Rives. Etched as the frontispiece to an edition of Les Diaboliques by Jules Barbey D'Aurevilly (1808-1889), issued by Simon Kra in a total of 350 numbered copies, of which 100 had additional suites of the etchings. This from an un-numbered, not-for-sale copy, hand-dedicated "a l'ami Brun, diaboliquement" and signed by the publisher Simon Kra. Many etchings from this series are signed or initialled in the plate; we can't see a signature on this one. Note the Devil's shadow in the foreground. Sold with a copy of the justification page and the dedication. Ref: Monod 950. Condition: Fine.
