PAOLO VERONESE – Adam et Ève, 1873
Sheet size: 285 x 200 mm
Image size: 125 x 75 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Signed in plate
Original etching by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet, signed and dated in the plate, printed by Delatre on thin China paper which was then pasted into the journal Paris à l'eau forte by Benoist. This etching is an interpretation of a painting by Veronese. The etching is in excellent condition. The backing sheet - which has the words "Adam et Éve, d'après Paul Véronèse, Eau-forte de M. Chauvet" printed below, and text on the reverse - has yellowed slightly; this does not affect the China paper of the etching, and could be hidden in framing. Condition: Excellent, see description.
