ANGELE DELASALLE – À Montigny-Beauchamp, 1907
Sheet size: 220 x 300 mm
Image size: 135 x 205 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Signed in plate
Original etching by Angèle Delasalle, signed in the plate, dating from 1907. This astonishingly vigorous landscape looks as if the plate was worked on on the spot, rather than transferred from a drawing. In some ways it looks behind Impressionism to the work of the Barbizon School, something noted by the critic Raymond Bouyer, who compared it to the work of Paul Huet. The etching was printed by Louis Fort on cream wove paper, and published by the Revue de l'art ancien et moderne in 1911. Condition: Excellent.
