PHILIP ZILCKEN – À l'oasis de Beni-Mora, 1910
Sheet size: 325x240 mm
Image size: 110x150 mm
Edition: 112 – Signed in plate
Original drypoint by Philip Zilcken. No. 21 of 112 proofs on beautiful creamy hand-made Hollande laid paper. There were also 8 proofs on Japan and a further 8 proofs hand-coloured by the artist. The drypoint is initialled in the plate, with a stamped signature below right. Sold with a copy of the hand-signed justification page to this series of 15 original drypoints, entitled Impressions d'Algérie, published in 1910 by H. Floury, Paris. Printed by Mouton & Cie, The Hague. Zilcken based these drypoints on drawings made in the 1880s. The drypoints are in near-fine condition, except for a small discoloured section at the very corner in the top left of the sheet, probably caused by a paper marker. This is well away from the drypoint itself and would be framed out. Condition: Excellent.
