ALBERTO PASINI – Abbrutimento (Ricordo di Constantinopoli), c.1870s
Sheet size: 370x270 mm
Image size: 210x155 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Signed in plate
Original etching by Alberto Pasini, signed with his monogram in the plate. Printed on cream laid paper, with printed credits to artist and title. No printer is credited, but this etching was almost certainly published by either A. Cadart or his widow. This impression comes from a portfolio entitled Vingt-cinq eaux-fortes par les principaux artistes modernes, issued in 1888 by A. Lèvy. Lèvy had taken over Cadart's business from his widow, and issued these portfolios as a means of dispersing the unsold stock. The etching is in excellent condition, but the edges of the sheet have become dirtied at the top and right, a long way away from the image. Condition: Very good, see description.
